Debunking Flawed and Inaccurate Research

Often, groups and individuals will cite research that supports the premise that homosexual rights are necessary, that homosexual parenting is equivalent to heterosexual parenting, that homosexuality is no less healthy than heterosexuality, and many other claims allegedly supportive of the homosexual agenda.

These studies are flawed and inaccurate for many reasons. Below are links to articles and resources which review and debunking poor conclusions from flawed research which is often falsely touted as expert and definitive.

APA Same-Sex Marraige Statement Deeply Flawed When the American Psychological Association (APA) announced its support for same-sex marriage last year, the news made headlines nationwide, with journalists assuming the support was based in sound scientific research. - According to a new analysis from the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy (IMAPP), those journalists assumed too much.	75

Does American Academy of Pediatrics Approve Same-Sex parenting? The statement of approval does not reflect the research:All the leading medical and psychiatric organizations say same-sex parenting is just as good as heterosexual parenting. Anyone who has spent any time in the same-sex “marriage” debate has heard this statement presented as an absolute argument closer.	70
Analysis of American Psychological Association Statement on Same Sex Marriage In the summer of 2011, media reported the statement of the Council of Representatives of the American Psychological Association endorsing same-sex marriage which purported reliance on new social science research. On close examination, the statement contains only a few substantive claims supported by far more position statements than the dozen academic references containing dramatic and glaring flaws. This analysis finds that the APA statement is not rooted in a substantial body of scientific research as it reflects the policy views of less than 200 psychologists nationally.	61
Responding to Pro-Gay Social Arguments: ‘Homosexuality is Inborn’ Social justice arguments are effective because they sound so good. They demand an end to homophobia and insensitivity; who wants to say they are against such goals? But just as the question "When did you stop beating your wife, Mr. Jones?" assumes (without proof) that Mr. Jones has been beating his wife, so the pro-gay social justice arguments assume (without proof) that gays are victims, and that the conservative church is largely responsible for their victimhood.	65
